Finding light
amidst darkness
Have we not faced such situations in our lives wherein we were left
bewildered and confused whether to go this way or that? The nature of this
world of duality is that it will present to us dilemmatic situations at all
times. It’s only the matter of what choices we make. And above all- whom we
turn to in such situations? A teacher is one who knows best how to guide his
student amidst times of adversity. The qualification of a teacher is that he is
free from doubts and illusion and teaches his student as per standard
authorities, and not by his self-concocted knowledge. It behooves us to take
guidance in such challenging times from someone who we know is a bonafide
source of knowledge.
Similar was the situation with Arjuna. Confronting his own family
members, he laid aside his celebrated gandiva bow shedding tears and flatly
refusing Krishna that he won’t fight. His decision not to fight was based on
following reasons:
Only a teacher as bonafide and the supreme authority of all knowledge, Lord
Sri Krishna could guide him and can guide the entire humanity for all times to
come. Arjuna fully surrendered to Him and requested Him to guide him through
this tough time of doubts and confusion. And the surrender was full and
unconditional despite he being an intimate friend of Krishna. And when the Lord
instructed Arjuna, the effect was clearly outlined by him- all my doubts are
cleared and my illusion is dispelled.
Lord Krishna has given us the source of light in His teachings of
Bhagwad Gita, something which can always turn to whenever we have doubts and
unsurity in our lives. There is not one question pertinent to our life that has
not been answered in this holy book. The only price that we have to pay for
finding the correct answer is faith in Him. Human form of life is meant to find
all answers to our ”real questions” and by turning our faces to Lord Krishna we
can definitely find light amidst darkness.
